Far from being the all-encompassing role that AI was meant to provide, it’s allowing the rich and powerful to wreak havoc by proxy and they don’t need to ‘dirty their hands’ in the process! As in all things, there are alternatives. AI could still be programmed to transcend our nastiness towards one another if we empower it to do so. All we would have to do would be to programme it accordingly.
This could literally allow us to sit back and enjoy what the world could offer us allowing AI to organise us accordingly; ensuring it worked towards the good of all, obeying Universal Law and ensuring Equilibrium in all our activities. Within a decade of so, manual work will become obsolete so shouldn’t we start building into AI, programmes ensuring that employers provide workers ‘living wages’, and everyone a good education, free health, affordable care-homes, and fair pensions?
Profit-free green energy could for example, supplant the fossil fuels which are bringing Global Warming perilously close to an uncontrollable horror story. The £trillions that the rich keep out of sight in tax havens and cryptocurrencies are already causing ‘hell on earth’ for the poor and needy and should be used constructively. But, have we already missed that option and allowed AI to fall into the unretrievable ‘hands of the ungodly?
We can’t trust ‘human’ nature anymore! It’s not natural!! Unlike most other species on our planet, our behaviour is and has been awful since we emerged from Africa hundreds of thousands of years ago! As I’ve mentioned before, the Universe is governed in all respects by the law of Equilibrium. If followed faithfully here on Earth, good actions and careful planning made respecting that rule, could be reciprocated in natural ways. We could all live in harmony and happiness and shared love for one another. I’m horrified at not only the mess we have brought on ourselves, but what we are going to leave to our offspring.
It’s not too late for us to turn over a new leaf. We could start by electing only those would-be’s who have the courage to declare themselves first and foremost as Naturalists first and politicians last. ‘Human’ Nature can only be trusted to take us all to Armageddon! But mighty oaks from little acorns grow!
There are so many wonderful people I’ve been privileged to know during my life. I want only what I firmly believe is best for us all before my ‘ink runs dry’!
